Position: Tax Planner Extraordinaire
If you give me a lever and a place to stand, I can move the world
So said Archimedes in Ancient Greece. Or possibly Rufus in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. In any case, it’s a good point. The right knowledge, applied in a meaningful way and with leverage, can have an enormous impact on our profession and on the wider world.
You did the work to earn that CFP® (or CPA!). You purposefully sought out the tax sessions at conferences. You keep reading past Form 1040 on those client tax returns, and you get genuinely pumped up when you see some basis on that Form 8606. You’ve built the tax planning knowledge. What if you had more leverage?
We at Holistiplan serve thousands of financial advisors, who in turn serve hundreds of thousands of clients. If you’ve ever thought about putting your knowledge to use at a grand scale, we have an opportunity for you.
We are seeking an experienced financial planner to be the resident tax expert in our customer success organization. There you’ll be able to put your knowledge to use to help thousands of financial advisors to be the best planners they can be. Some sample duties include:
- Supporting and training your Holistiplan colleagues as they provide first and second level assistance to our advisor customers.
- Serving as the highest escalation point for those obscure, bizarre questions that other advisors themselves weren’t able to figure out without asking us for help.
- Serving as the primary liaison between the customer success and product teams, to ensure we continue to innovate in step with the changing needs of the profession.
- Working with advisor customers who are new to the profession to improve their knowledge and confidence so they can in turn provide their clients with richer financial planning.
- Representing Holistiplan at in person and industry events, to remain in touch with the advisors we serve.
We’re guessing that if you’ve read this far, you probably have at least a few years of financial advisory experience. That’s going to be important for your success in this position. Since you’ll be talking to advisors, knowing how advisors think and the challenges they face will be critical. Ideally you’ll have some experience or knowledge with Software as a Service (Saas) or FinTech beyond strolling through the Exhibitors Hall at a conference one time, but we know that’s a big ask. We’re obligated to say that you need strong organization skills, attention to detail, time management, and excellent communications skills. But beyond that, you’ll excel in this position and at this company if you’re curious, a lifelong learner, have a good sense of humor, and bring above average emoji skills in Slack.
The salary for this position is $125,000/year. Your first task will be to finalize your job title. We debated Tax Planner Extraordinaire, Professor of Tax Excellence, Professor of Taxcellence, or simply Your Taxcellency. But we wanted to leave the final decision up to you.
If you’re still reading, please send a resume and cover letter to jobs@holistiplan.com. We look forward to meeting you already.
